Hundreds of popular hybrid and heirloom tomato varieties are listed by several groupings:
Your local gardening expert will know what varieties grow best in your vicinity. If you like to shop online one of my favorite sources is Burpee.
Included in the following list are hundreds of varieties I've encountered either through personal experience, seed catalogs or other sources. Because there are so many tomato varieties and new ones appearing all the time, there are certain to be many omissions. Are your favorite varieties in this list?

Back to TopThe following list of early tomato varieties, which are generally considered to be those maturing in 65 days or less, will be useful if your growing season is shorter than average. Most of these are red tomatoes. "Days to maturity" is the number of days after transplanting seedlings into garden or container. The number of days is an average and will vary according to your specific growing conditions but the divisions should allow you to compare one variety to another.
