Right now, sick tomato
Right now, sick tomato

One month ago in some tomatoes (less than 1%), the upper and young stems and leaves started to have spots and turning into a purple/grayish color. You can see this in the first two pictures 1 and 2. Right now--after 1 month--all of these young stems and leaves are completely dried and dead. The tomato fruits these tomatos wield are looking like in the photos 3 and 4. I think it's a bacterial or viral problem but I am not sure. Can you help me identify it?

I would query tomato beetle as they infest the leaves also. when grown up look like a green beetle. Approximately .05 cm wide and 1cm long and very bright green. Iris

Looks like Early Blight
by: Clark

Greg,
Thanks for posting pictures; that really helps to identify the issue. It looks like early blight to me, which is very destructive once it gets entrenched. In it's early stages it can be controlled by spraying weekly with fungicides. But in your case it could be too late, unless you have some plants that aren't yet affected.
