Possibly Gophers NEW
by: Randy Minnick

I had an issue with my tomatoes that sounds similar to yours. I always insure that my tomatoes are well watered. So, when they started dying off without having signs of disease and even had fruit on them, I wondered what on earth was happening. It didn't take long to figure out that gophers were tunneling under the soil in the 8' x 8' raised garden beds and eating the roots. No amount of water could save them though they did struggle the best they could to hang on.

Sounds very much like"Root Knot Nematodes".When you decide to pull plant up look at roots and they will be covered in knots.
