Tomato Plants have Tobacco Mosaic Virus

by Charity

I had a problem with tobacco mosaic this year on my tomato plants. My local extension agent said there isn't much I can do about it except good sanitation.

He said to disinfect tools, no planting nightshade plants in the infected spot for at least 2 years, to do deep cultivation and to clean off all my plants very well after harvest.

If I burn the infected area of the garden will it get rid of the mosaic virus? Also, if I till the area(deep cultivation) won't that just spread the virus to uninfected areas of my garden?
