Tomato plant leaves growing yellowing and dying

by Jason Brumback
(Spokane, Washington)

Ok it started on the bottom with the end of the leaves turning yellow then growing and curling and dying on the edges. I am a organic Gardner and I have treated it with green cure and I am getting no where it's moving up the plaint the branches are dying. And on the other side of my garden my pepper plaints are wrinkling and getting black spots on the end of the leaves. Some of the plaints are still producing fruit but it's getting worse. I don't know what to do any more I've tried everything and nothing is working. Please help.

black leaves, yellow leaves, corn earworms oh my!

I am having the same problem in Missouri. We have been in drought conditions so I water everyday (with the -under the mulch hose thing...the one that has holes and you connect them together to your hose that connects to the house). The leaves on my heirloom and big boy tomatoes are yellow and curled...my tomatoes are splitting really bad and sugar ants were getting into them...I put borax and sugar in yogurt bowls with holes and fixed that problem. They are still spliting really bad and the ones that are not looked deformed. My cherry tomatoes I just learned from reading this are being over watered? The leaves have been turning black and my once beautiful cherry tomatoes in June are pathetic and getting hit by some locust looking thing and what looks like a big ugly yellow ladybug...think those are Japanese bugs? They destroyed my green beans last year. Couldn't grow any green beans this year.

I am about to rip my hair out trying to help my tomato plants, but, I think I'm doing too much? I also never gave them any tomato plant food I got at home depot or any miracle grow. I was trying to be totally organic this year. My mulch this year was also newspaper. It is suppose to deter the bugs and keep the plants moist. What I didn't know is it takes a LOT of newspaper!

My banana peppers are great!! Jalopenos - got a corn earworm on one of them in early June. Now doing fine. Also pulled 3 corn earworms off three tomato plants in the last three days. (That is one mean, ugly, mean, big worm...did I mention mean?? :) )
