Something is eating our green tomatoes

We are not new gardeners, been doing so for 70 years. Our plants are very healthy looking. went out to check, it looks like worms have been eating the leaves, but something is also eating the green tomato.

We cannot find any sign of worms, bugs or anything. They are staked and are about 3 feet tall at least.

Where the tomato is at are at the top of the vine, nothing down low. Cannot be an animal and where is eaten is like a large place that is finely chewed maybe half of the tomato.

Oppossum NEW
by: Joanie

We had oppossums eating our tomatoes a couple of years ago. Didn't know what was doing it, so my husband set up a game camera in the garden.

Something eating tomatoes
by: The Green Buffalo

I've had squirrels, birds and raccoons eat tomatoes. Squirrels are the worst because they also will take tomatoes off the vine, eat a bit and leave them somewhere very visible so you can't help but notice and get ticked off. Yes, I think my squirrels are mocking me.
Anyway, I've heard this is more of a problem in dry time when animals look for high water content fruits or vegetables.
