The green zebra tomato was selected as one of the 20 best-tasting varieties in the Feb/Mar '08 Mother Earth News. And with its novel appearance, this green tomato is sure to please.
It was originally bred by Tom Wagner on his farm near Lancaster, Kansas. Mr. Wagner first offered it in his Tater Mater Seeds catalog in 1983.
The smooth, round striped tomato has a refreshing taste that is more acidic than sweet; its texture is firm. The fruit is larger than cherry tomatoes, grows in three- to five-fruit clusters, and has good disease tolerance. Yield is above average.
I recommend buying Green Zebra tomato seeds at TomatoFest because not only do they specialize in heirloom tomato seeds that are certified organic, but their service is great and their staff friendly.
